New student FAQs

  • What is yoga?

Yoga means integration and union. It is the practice of creating connection with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. The physical practice of yoga, known as asana, is just one of the eight limbs of yoga. Asana is a powerful and healing practice that can benefit anyone who is interested in living with greater awareness and consciousness. There are many ways to practice yoga, and no single path is the only path. As long as the practice leads toward greater integration, connection, and union, it is serving the true purpose of yoga.

  • What are the benefits of yoga?

There are no promises when it comes to the results of a yoga practice, as each person's journey is unique. However, the potential for healing and transformation is immense. Yoga can support the healing of the physical body by building strength, increasing mobility, and improving overall well-being. It can also nurture the mind by cultivating greater clarity, inner peace, and resilience. As your practice deepens, you may develop greater self-awareness and self-confidence, which often extend into healthier, more meaningful relationships. When you practice yoga in a community, you receive more than the benefits of your own practice. You are supported by the collective energy, encouragement, and shared intention of those around you. Together, we grow stronger, inspire one another, and create a space where healing and transformation can flourish.

  • Are all classes heated?

No. While most of our classes are heated, we also offer Yin Yoga as a nonheated option.

  • Which class is right for me?

We recommend trying a variety of classes and teachers because each instructor brings a different style, energy, and approach to the practice.

  • What should I bring to class?

A friend! Yoga is always better with a friend. If you're coming on your own, bring an open heart, an open mind, and a little curiosity. We provide the rest. If you have your own mat and water bottle, feel free to bring them. If not, we've got you covered.

  • How often should I practice yoga?

Practice as often or as little as you'd like. One class a week is a great place to start. The best way to find a routine that works for you is to begin, stay consistent, and notice how your body feels. As your practice grows, you can always add more classes if it feels right.
